Mermaid Costume

This costume is the design decision for the 'mermaid' character for my production of ' The Adventures of Baron Munchausen'. For this project the main feature was to have many aspects made out of recycled objects or to re-purpose previous garments. Due to this the fabric was a petticoat and unused fabric from a previous project. As well as using natural dyes, to reinforce the idea of a more environmentally friendly costume. The scales that are also featured on this costume are made out of milk bottle top lids. I continued the idea of recycling plastic with the cape around the top of the bodice which is recycled packaging. Another aspect that was reused in this project is the sequins that w unpicked from scraps of sequinned fabric.
